About me

Sally Hildreth, LPC

You’re seeking meaning and depth and don’t know where to find it.

You’ve already talked to your friends, read books and listened to podcasts, but nothing is really working. Maybe your desire for more depth comes with a problem you’re hesitant to share, like struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, spirituality, grief, illness, or depression. You might have even tried therapy in the past and had a good experience. You learned skills, did homework, and managed your symptoms, but this time you want to go deeper.

You’re ready to stop searching and begin the work,

How do you know if therapy with me will actually fit for you?  I help people looking for more out of life listen to themselves and their lives differently. We’ll work to connect your head with your heart, your mind with your body, and balance the known with the unknown. You’ll discover that you have human ways of knowing beyond just rationality. There won’t be homework, but we will meet weekly (or more when appropriate) so we’re able to explore your concerns with the depth they call for.

I will bring my experience

I’ve practiced therapy in outpatient group private practices, and at a university counseling center. I’ve also worked in community mental health through rape crisis advocacy. For those interested, I incorporate astrology and tarot into our therapeutic process.

Education

I received my BA from Boston University and my MA in psychology from the University of West Georgia. While at UWG, I completed my clinical education while also studying ecopsychology, transpersonal psychology and working in the university parapsychology archives. I’m currently continuing my psychotherapy and psychology education through a post-graduate training program in Jungian depth psychology. This means I focus on creativity, dream work, images, and how your life and problems are related to the big picture (society, the planet, your faith, and your history).

When I’m not practicing therapy, I still research and write about the value of the unknown, astrology as ecopsychology and divination. My training has always focused on being human and connections between the personal and the collective. I approach our work together with similar focus.

With this focus, we can also incorporate my training in tarot and astrology as desired. I don’t have a healing agenda beyond meeting you where you’re at and deepening that place. That depth is the beginning of lasting change.

While I’ve written here about my specialties, education, and therapeutic philosophy, it’s important to know therapy will follow your needs. We will collaborate to reach your goals, this looks different for everyone.

As we begin therapy

Sometimes we sit in sadness and pain, but the process is often a relief and my clients emerge with a greater sense of self and a more confident relationship toward their future. Over time in therapy, my clients experience a sense of renewal, and balance between their many ways of knowing. You’ll have a better understanding of how your past is impacting your present and see more choices for your future.  These changes have a ripple effect, making an impact on your relationships, work, and quality of life.

But there are no new ideas still waiting in the wings to save us…There are only old and forgotten ones, new combinations, extrapolations and recognitions from within ourselves, along with the renewed courage to try them out.
